Ziplining is an extreme outdoor activity that is very popular in Thailand. It allows you to fly like a bird through the deep jungle from tree to tree. In this article, you will learn more about what is ziplining? who can play? how to prepare? and where can you play in Thailand?

 

What is Ziplining?

Ziplining is a type of transportation that is very useful in rough terrains like a high mountain, a large river, or a deep jungle. It's the fastest way to transport cargo or a person from one point to another point using the zipline cables to guide the way and gravity to force the cargo forward. In the 90s, this activity has become a new trend of Eco-tourism which the guests can enjoy an exited ziplining through the stunning scenery, close to nature and learn more about environmental awareness.

 

Who can play Ziplining?

Ziplining is suitable for all ages, even kids aged more than 5 years old can play as well. However, it's recommended for a person with good health and physical condition.

Infant, pregnant, elders and those with health problems especially heart disease or asthma are prohibited to participate in this kind of activity due to the ziplining play style is hopping from tree to tree through the zipline cables in the middle of the jungle. Any accident or emergency will not be able to evacuate easily.

Moreover, a person with a weight over 100 kg. aren't able to play ziplining as well due to safety issues. (Maximum weight limit varies, depending on each zipline operator)

 

How to prepare before playing Ziplining?

First of all, you need to prepare your physical and mental to be ready for an extreme, adrenaline rush outdoor activity that is waiting for you. Then, we have a checklist for every item you should or should not bring with you to maximize your ziplining experience.

1. Comfort clothes: good ventilation for a hot climate and flexible to move your body parts as what you will face may not just ziplines, but it will be various obstacles along the way. Also, we recommend bringing changing clothes once you have finished the journey.
2. Sport shoes: able to walk on the jungle terrain and not fall easily.
3. Camera: we suggest using a small camera like an Action cam such as GoPro to capture your moment while ziplining in the air. You can use a selfie stick or smartphone at your own risk.
4. Any loose items such as sunglasses and wallet should keep in the locker which is available to all players.

When you are ready, the place will be prepared all safety equipment such as a safety helmet, safety harness, rope, and pulley. All players will be trained by professional staff about how to play safely and practice on the short zipline to get more confidence before going out into the jungle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which period should I go for Ziplining in Thailand?
The best period is during the winter season from November to January. However, for Phuket and other places in Southern Thailand, it's better to visit during March-May as there is less possibility to get rain.

Is ziplining dangerous?
This is considered an extreme activity which is dangerous if you didn't play it correctly. All participants will be trained by professional staff about the safety of ziplining before going for a real one.

Can we skip some activities or platforms?
No, in this activity you will be ziplining from the top of the canopy, tree by tree. You cannot exit while you are playing.

If it's raining while we are playing, what should we do?
As mentioned in the last question, you can't stop or escape while on the platforms. So, always be prepared. If you are playing during raining season, we are suggested to bring a raincoat with you.

Can I bring someone who's not playing to take a photo of me?
No, the zipline route will bring you into the deep jungle, and the only way to get there is by ziplining. Guest who is not playing must wait at the lobby or take a picture of you during preparation. However, the staff who travel along with you will love to help take photos for you and they know the angle very well.
