Worth visiting
This is the best-managed architectural and archaeological structure, renowned for its significant spiritual importance. It beautifully combines historical preservation with deep cultural meaning, making it a remarkable site to explore.

SIMPLY AWESOME
The temple of the emerald buddha is an extravagance on a massive scale. The temple itself along with all it's surrounding buildings are a master stroke of opulence and beautifully crafted and detailed workmanship. The first thing that came into my head when I saw these was just how long would it of taken to build all of this? It's absolutely staggering to see and hard to describe unless you're seeing it for yourself. Every bit of detail is majestic, every building is jaw dropping, and every photo you take will not do it justice. The price of just £12 to view all that is within the Grand Palace is fantastic. One thing that you should note is unlike many other temples this is not open all day. The final entry is only at 15:30 before closure at 16:30...and you need way more than 1 hour to see everything! Not to be missed under any circumstances!

A Majestic Family Visit to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew)
Our family visit to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, or Wat Phra Kaew, in Bangkok was one of the most awe-inspiring cultural experiences we've ever had. Nestled within the grounds of the Grand Palace, this sacred site is truly the heart of Thailand’s spiritual heritage—and from the moment we entered, we could see why. We arrived early in the morning to avoid the midday crowds and heat, and the golden light cast over the gleaming spires and colorful mosaic walls created a magical atmosphere. As a family, we were instantly taken by the sheer grandeur and intricate detail of the temple structures. The children were fascinated by the mythological figures and guardian statues, especially the towering yakshas at the entrance—each one bursting with color and character. Inside the temple, the Emerald Buddha itself, though modest in size, radiated an aura of reverence. Watching locals and visitors alike pause to pay their respects reminded us how special this place is. We explained to the kids the importance of the statue and the changing seasonal robes—a tradition maintained by the Thai king himself. We also appreciated the blend of architecture, sculpture, and history that surrounded us. Every surface seemed to tell a story, from the murals depicting the Ramakien (Thailand’s national epic) to the delicate floral motifs on the buildings. It felt like walking through a living museum of Thai art and devotion. One thing we were glad we did was dress appropriately—long pants and covered shoulders are a must, and we noticed a few tourists being asked to rent cover-ups at the entrance. Also, since we were traveling with kids, we made sure to pace ourselves, take breaks in shaded spots, and stay hydrated. By the time we exited the temple complex, we felt a deep sense of peace and admiration—not just for the artistry and beauty, but for the spiritual energy that clearly draws people here from all over the world. Visiting Wat Phra Kaew as a family wasn't just about seeing a famous landmark—it was a shared experience of culture, history, and quiet reflection that we’ll treasure for years.
